Brass Scorpion Conversion

Hey guys, time for another one of the wonderful conversions from the talented mind behind the Iron Warriors Daemon Prince conversion from one of our previous articles. (For those who somehow missed it, he can be found here:http://warpartifacts.blogspot.com/2013/09/iron-warriors-daemon-prince-conversion.html ) Anyways, this new warp-forged abomination is a Brass Scorpion conversion. I had a quick chance to talk with Rick about it while he played in the Underground Assualt Apocalypse scenario from the recently released Warzone: Pandorax book that was held at our local GW store. Heres what it took.....

Literally made from the spare parts he had left over from numerous other kits and conversion projects, Rick used the remains of a few Defiler kits for the arms legs and tail of his Brass Scorpion, while the stinger mounted guns are taken from the Forge Fiend weapon arms. In keeping with its Khornate roots, the leg plates of the Scorpion are adorned with icons of Khorne, which can be seen better on the picture below. This thing is not small, taking up a footprint slightly larger than a Space Marine Land Raider, but in actual length from claw to tail, its close to a Baneblade. As a reference for scale, that is a Tau Riptide right behind the Scorpion in the picture below.
Too give the Brass Scorpion a few extra touches, Rick added some metal wiring across the thorax of the creature, giving it that more semi-organic look of metal fused with a sentient mind. The carapace shell around its head area was leftover plating from the Heldrake kit, and fitted in nicely for this project, while the armor towards the tail is another leftover part of the Forge Fiend kit. The cannon on the head area is a leftover battle cannon from the Defiler kit also.
While this already looks great, Rick said he did also plan on adding some blades around the cannon/face area, so that it will have some mandibles and more of a bug-like maw than it does currently. Its always nice to catch up with him to see what crazy ideas he is working on. Hopefully there will be more to come down the line on this. Once he has had the time to paint this and his Daemon Prince I will update the articles so that everyone can see them in their fully awesome and terrifying majesty. :)
