Choose your Eldar!

Some quick news everyone! Last Friday the Developers of the upcoming 40k MMO; Eternal Crusade, announced that its first community faction vote will go live this Wednesday. For any who don't know, this is the first of 4 community votes for founders to choose which additional racial sub-faction can be added to the game. Eldar are first up on this, with the choices being Craftworlds Mymeara, Altansar, and Yme Loc. All have pretty unique looks and very interesting backgrounds. (here's the link to that video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-Ccs2bd38g ) If you are excited to play as your favorite space elfs but have yet to become a founder, then you are encouraged to do so now so that you can have active participation in choosing what goes into the game for this faction. Signing up is quick and easy and is as simple as going to eternalcrusade.com, creating an account, and buying any one of the founder packs available, but hurry, the voting begins on Wednesday. 40k MOBA Game Incoming!

Some interesting news in the realms of video games today. A newly announced 40k video game title has been announce. Dark Nexus Arena is a MOBA game along similar lines to games juggernaut; League of Legends, and is set in a Dark Eldar Arena of Death. The game is planned to be opened for Early Access in the 2nd quarter of 2015. Here is a link to the games website; https://www.darknexusarena.com/. 3D Printing: The future of Wargaming?

After looking on the web recently for some good GW alternative models for BFG and Epic 40k, I discovered something very interesting. Not only is there a plethora of 3rd party bitz and model manufacturers, but there is also some really interesting potential in the realms of 3D printing nowadays. Obviously I don't mean the infamous "Red Dreadnaught" above, I mean other models, specifically of smaller kinds. But after seeing the things available as i have lately during my internet search, there is definitely a growing professional community of talented 3D designers and modellers that can produce some truly great quality, and for a very reasonable price. FW Stormhammer up for preorder

Today, Forge World has put up the mighty Stormhammer Super-heavy tank kit for preorders. Here's a link to see much more pics of this behemoth; http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/STORMHAMMER.html. Its rules are featured in book 4 of the Horus Heresy campaign, but don't be surprised if you see an updated set for 40k games sometime not too far in the future. For the money, this is probably one of my favorite new super-heavy kits they have produced. If you are looking for a tank that is all about the firepower, then this is one to get. :)

Eternal Crusade Delayed yet again......

Some troubling news from the makers of Eternal Crusade surfaced recently. For those who have yet to hear about the delay to Early Access, the article about it can be read here; https://www.eternalcrusade.com/news/398-State-Of-The-Crusade . Originally supposed to be released late last year, that deadline couldn't be met, but Founders didn't mind. It's all to make a better game after all. But now the deadline of Q1 2015 has also been reneged on, all the way till 'Autumn 2015" sometime. Normally I'm not troubled by delays with games as its normal, but here's why i find this slightly troubling...

Plastic Horus Heresy models coming?

Big rumors have surfaced overnight regarding what we will see in the coming months at our local GW stores, and they are exciting to say the least. It looks like we may be seeing Horus Heresy plastics start to be released in GW stores in the near future! I for one am very curious to see how this is going to turn out. More thoughts and details below. 

New Deathwing trailer!

A new trailer for the upcoming Space Hulk: Deathwing game has been revealed today. Here's a link the the video on IGN. http://www.ign.com/videos/2015/02/13/space-hulk-deathwing-rise-of-the-terminators-trailer Its looking really good, and since this one will be released both on PC and next-gen games consoles, this is a sure buy for me :). The graphics look awesome. Curious about how the game itself will play but I am pretty sure i remember reading that this is going to be a shooter, so it could be a really interesting co-op game. :)

The Crimson Fist released!

Some news fresh from Forge World today. The latest in the character series for the Horus Heresy has been released. Alexis Polux of the Imperial Fists. It'll be interesting to see what comes next from Forge World. I have yet to see a bad character model so far (in my opinion anyways). :) A little more info on this Imperial Fists character follows below....

Endtimes: Archaon Leaks

A lot of information is beginning to come out regarding the final volume of the Endtimes now. Stat lines for Archaon and several units have been revealed. Here's a link to check them out; http://imgur.com/a/nOyqS?

The new units look interesting, especially the new special character I noticed listed there, I think he could be a really useful character to field, and could be pretty annoying to your enemy. I'm also still really hoping that there might be a Chaos Dragon model coming, but I'm beginning to think that rumor is probably not true. I guess we will find out in the coming weeks or days. :)

Halo Miniatures Game

More news breaking today. The mystery of the Spartan Games logo change has been revealed! While I'm sure many may not be surprised, its still an exciting prospect. In the not too distant future we will finally be seeing a Halo Universe miniatures game. One game will be a space-based ship game, while the other will be a ground based game. Exciting times are ahead. More info below.

Plastic Greater Daemon Revealed

So there was some pretty exciting news that broke over the weekend if you didn't hear about it yet. End Times: Archaon is rumored to be headed our way in March, with a focus on Khorne for this release. With that, we will see our first plastic greater daemon model; the Bloodthirster. Following the release of this, there are a few other Khorne specific units coming too. More info below.

Stormbird Model Sighted!

So this weekend is the Horus Heresy weekender, and we are already seeing many images from it floating around the internet. The one that really caught my eye was the first prototype model for the Stormbird (shown above). Gotta say, while its not what I had imagined it would look like, it is a pretty solid looking ship. Some of the other pictures available even show it being able to fit a Rhino inside its rear hatch. While there are more than a few places to look at pictures, the most comprehensive place i found so far, with the least blurry images is over at Recalcitrant Daze blog. Why people who like Battlefleet Gothic should really pay attention to Star Wars Armada

Having recently been getting into the X-Wing Miniatures game, I found myself interested in the upcoming Star Wars: Armada game. In the limited time i have had with X-Wing, I really enjoyed the variety and the balance of the game. When i heard of Armada allowing players to take control of the more colossal ships such as the Star Destroyers from the movies, and small squadrons of TIE fighters as backup, my interest was definitely piqued. I then recalled an article I had read recently over on Faeit 212 that Natfka had posted, and it got me thinking. If FFG now owns specialist games license, will we see some form of Battlefleet Gothis come into existence again after the successes of X-Wing. The answer may well lay in the interest generated by Armada when it launches later this Spring. Book Review - Vengeful Spirit

So this is just the second time I have done a book review for the blog, but I feel I will do this more often, as I have, and continue to read many 40k novels, and have read all the Heresy books up to the newest one, including most of the Black Library exclusives which I have really enjoyed too. :) If you like the Heresy Series and want to read this for yourself, then please do not view and read this article as plot spoilers WILL be contained. If however you like the stories, but simply don't have the time to read, then i hope this article will prove useful. :) I apologize in advance for the length of this review, but this is the longest book of the Horus Heresy, and a lot of things happen, so it needed more. Review follows below.

The Master of Siege

Thought for my first real post back I would do a quick one on a small project I did for a friend who is starting an Imperial Fists Siege Assault Vanguard army. He wanted me to build a Captain that fit the army ascetically, but that would also offer him some flexibility for list building while remaining WYSIWYG for games. After a little while of contemplating some options i came up with this guy. I just built him, all the painting on him has been done by Preston himself, and the end result fits the part pretty well i think :) Further pics and breakdown follows....

Back with a Vengeance

Its been quite some time since I was last able to post here. Glad to be back. Alot has happened in that time, and I'm happy to say that I have much more time to post things again :) I have missed it quite a bit and I'm sorry for being away for so long. I have been working on a lot of other hobby projects though during the time I've been away, many of which i will share with you soon! I will try to keep up with the torrents of rumors that seem to be flying around these days, but it can be hard to keep on top of them all right now. In the meantime, here is a list of things that are coming soon to the blog. Hoping to get some input on them once they are here. :)
