So after looking around for some conversion ideas for 40k related things, i ran into this. Eisenkern models from a company called Dream-forge Games. For those who are maybe not familiar with them, they ran two very successful kickstarters a while back. You can check out their stuff at this link - http://dreamforge-games.com/ By now most people have at least seen the Stormtroopers converted as Imperial Guard units, or the Leviathans; sometimes proxied by some as Knight class Titans for apocalypse when datasheets were around in 40k. Anyways, turns out, there is a reason for this line of models being around, along with many more in the works. Its called Iron Core.
When i first took a look at the models at the website I thought, "These would make excellent Storm Trooper models for an Imperial Guard army, with very minor conversions." Once i had done a bit more research and looking around though, I discovered that there is a rapidly expanding universe behind this model line, and it has alot of potential to become something very cool. So i went ahead and i order some boxes of models. 2 Boxes of 20 Eisenkern Storm Troopers, along with an infantry accessory pack. Total cost including shipping was only around $85 i believe. Great priced models, and they are really well detailed for the 28mm scale they come in. At first the poses seemed a bit limited, as arms are automatically paired up for certain stances/weapons, but once you get used to it, it turns out that they can still be made to look very dynamic. I'll post some pictures of mine at a later time, as right now, I only have a few of them assembled, but they do look very cool. :)
Taking a look at the kits online, you can see a lot of care and time has gone into getting a really good level of detail on them and considering this is a one man company cranking the model designs out they are very well done. Take a look at the pictures to see what i mean. The details are really good, and i can't wait for the K3 APC to become available as a standard purchase. Right now the kickstarter backers are getting theirs and once that's been finished, they should be available for the masses.
There is also an upgrade for the APC to turn it into a light artillery vehicle that looks pretty cool too. Can't wait to see the designs for heavier vehicles such as tanks, etc, but right now the models are great. The rules for the Iron Core game are still being worked on as of now, but I have heard rumors that there could be a test set as early as sometime around Easter this year. And even for those not interested in the game, the models are very good for conversion opportunities and i definitely recommend checking them out :)
