40k Expansions confirmed for December

Some pictures of the December White Dwarf are finally hitting the net. Images have confirmed the two new expansions - Escalation and Stronghold Assault - for release next month, but, at least for now, it doesn't look like we will see any new superheavies being added as plastics. For links to the image, follow this to Natfka's blog for more info - http://natfka.blogspot.com/2013/11/pictures-from-december-white-dwarf-are.html#more.

I do think we will definitely see the escalation one used more, as it is nice for people with super-heavies to be able to use them on a more regular sized game. I know more than a few people who bought super-heavies for the original Apocalypse game, only to discover they didn't like how it played. I know a lot of people will likely be unhappy with this addition, but honestly, and i mean this in the nicest possible way, get over yourselves. This isn't anything new, this was how it was done way back in 3rd and part of 4th before Apocalypse ever existed. Stuff isn't unbeatable and honestly it can be a nice story to tell others when u melt a Baneblade with nothing but a few special weapons from a few lowly squads of infantry. Instead of trying to rail against this, try to embrace it, and remember that, while they can bring a super-heavy, so can you.  if you don't have a super-heavy, it gives you opportunity for conversions for almost any army if you don't have money for Forge World stuff. And before fellow Marine players try to bitch about lack of super-heavy that isn't Forge World, please remember you have a simple answer in the form of a Land Raider Terminus. (Very Easy Conversion if it is necessary) If all else fails, you can now at least have some useful fortifications to use to weather the storm from such vehicles.

In my opinion this will be a welcome change. Back to more of the older ways super-heavies could be used. It will be nice to see some of the counters people discover for them now that we see them on a more small scale level. Hell, you may even realize that they are not such a big game-changer as you previously thought :)
