Salamanders Firedrakes Available Now!

The Firedakes of the Salamanders Legion have finally arrived on Forge World's website for pre-order. I remember seeing these as sneak peek WIP models from some pictures of the older Forge World Gamesday displays that were recently covered by most other sites. The Firedrakes are a powerful and implacable foe to face on the battlefield, and they definitely nailed that feeling in the looks of these models. Here's a link for more info on this awesome unit: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/SALAMANDERS_LEGION_FIREDRAKES.html. More Pictures and thoughts below.

The first thing that really stands out to me with these models is the Storm Shields that the Firedrakes squad carry. These things are huge and encrusted with drakescales and Legion icons and really give the unit a strong sense of being impervious to all but the heaviest attacks available to their enemies. The hammers also give them that feeling of power and strength that one would expect of their Primarchs personal guard.
The other thing that is a bit different on these Terminators is the helmets. They look to be more of a Legion specific variant, but are pretty interesting looking. Having a somewhat ridged appearance across the top they look a bit more reptilian in overall design. The main armor plates also have much detail, such as the golden flames and the drakehead mounted on the torso, which really finish off the Firedrake aesthetic well. (The picture below gives a much better look at these areas of detail)
So to summarize, Forge World has yet again brought us an outstanding set of models that would fit nicely in both a Horus Heresy army and a 40k current army. The amount of stuff coming out lately from these guys is really good. Be it the small upgrade packs, or the larger items such as the recent Legion Falchion superheavy, everything has been really good and I can't wait to get a set of these Firedrakes along with Vulkan - who I'm sure will probably be released very soon too - so that i can finally add these Iconic units to my Salamanders collection :)
